World Immunization Week 2016!

April 24th - 30th is internationally recognized as World Immunization Week, dedicated to promoting the use of vaccines around the world. Vaccines are considered one of the most effective tactics for preventing illness and saving lives. The theme this year is “Close the Immunization Gap,” and will target the need for vaccination throughout life for both adults and adolescents. The campaign also seeks to draw attention to those living in conflict situations and impoverished areas.

Over the past year, progress has been made regarding worldwide availability and awareness of immunizations.

  • 86 low-income countries have introduced 128 vaccines since 2010
  • Investigational Ebola vaccines were developed and tested rapidly
  • The possibility of disease elimination was shown in India, where maternal and neonatal tetanus have been eliminated
  • Rubella and congenital rubella syndrome were eliminated in the Americas – the first region to do so

Although challenges lie ahead, vaccinations continue to be an important and effective part of protecting people from diseases around the world. ClinEdge is proud to have a hand in helping the advancement of new vaccine therapies through our multi-specialty research sites and our expert patient recruitment team.
